Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Greek governments to create organizing committee for EURO 2028 and WC 2030 candidacies
The Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian and Greek governments are going to create an initial organizing committee to submit their two joint candidacies for hosting the European Championship of 2028 and the World Cup of 2030, the Ministry of Youth and Sports announces in a release sent to AGERPRES. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Bogdan Matei, on Monday went to Sofia, where he participated in the governmental meeting on this topic, alongside his counterparts from Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece. He was accompanied to Sofia by the President of the Romanian Football Federation, Razvan Burleanu, and by the honorary adviser to the PM, Gheorghe Popescu.
"At the meeting they drafted a Memorandum of Understanding between the Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Greek governments to create an initial organizing committee to submit the two abovementioned joint candidacies. The Committee will be composed of four representatives from each country: the minister of sports, a government official and two representatives of the football federation. The presidency of the committee will be ensured by rotation by each of the four countries, for a 6-month period, and the meetings will be periodical, at 6 months," mentions the release. Minister Bogdan Matei stated Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece are perfectly capable of organizing these two major football events. Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece last year announced their intention to submit their joint candidacy to host the European Football Championship of 2028 and the World Cup of 2030.

England could bid for Euro 2028 but Greg Dyke rules out World Cup 2026
England are interested in bidding for Euro 2028 but are very unlikely to bid for the 2026 World Cup, FA chairman Greg Dyke has revealed.
The FA has decided not to bid for Fifa tournaments while Blatter is still in power following England’s failed bid for 2018. Fifa announced last week that the decision on the 2026 tournament will be made in 2017 – when Sepp Blatter is still likely to be Fifa president, making any bid for that tournament unlikely, but Dyke is eyeing a bid for the European Championship in 2028. Dyke told Press Association Sport: “The truth is, the chances of the 2026 World Cup being in Europe are virtually nil; Sepp Blatter has still got a good chance of being there when it is decided and we certainly won’t bid if Blatter is there. “Our policy is that we won’t bid for almost any tournaments while the current leadership is there. “We would much more interested in bidding for Euro 2028 because we like Uefa but it is a very long time away still.” England will host the semi-finals and final of Euro 2020 at Wembley – the competition is being played in 13 countries across Europe. The United States are favourites to be named as hosts of the 2026 World Cup – Asia cannot bid as Qatar, an Asian federation country, is hosting the 2022 tournament and Europe has 2018 in Russia.

Nordic countries to make joint bid for Euro 2024, 2028
STOCKHOLM (Reuters). The Nordic countries will make a joint bid to host the European Championship in 2024 and 2028, with matches in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland plus events in the Faroe Islands and Iceland, they announced on Sunday. News of the bid was revealed in a media statement released by the Danish Football Association (DBU) following a meeting of the chairs of the Nordic FAs. Details of the bid will be thrashed out at a meeting in August in Greenland. Citing the many shared values in the region, the statement said the joint bid would focus on “sustainability, volunteerism and well-being” while promising an economically and environmentally responsible approach to staging the tournament.
“The Euros is one of the biggest events in the world of football, and it is great for all of us who love football,” DBU chairman Jesper Moeller was quoted as saying. Denmark is slated to host four games at Euro 2020, which will be staged in 13 different countries across Europe, and Sweden has previously hosted the 1958 World Cup and the 1992 European Championship, which was won by the Danes. Euro 2016 in France marks the first time Iceland have reached the finals of a major tournament, although Sweden are the only other Nordic nation to have qualified.
